Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul met and stood with the Raise the Floor Alliance and a number of Illinois workers to encourage legislators to pass the Work Without Fear Act.

The piece of state legislation – currently proposed and still pending – in the Illinois General Assembly would, as per the Attorney General, the Alliance and representatives of Illinois workers, create effective deterrents against workplace retaliation with the aims to intimidate and/or silence workers.

As the Raise the Floor Alliance lays out on its own website, this type of bullying and use of power happens more often than many realize, and negatively impacts large swaths of the working population each year; more information concerning workers’ rights can be found in the WMAY piece at WMAY.com!
