The Sangamon County Coroner and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a Carlinville Funeral Home.
Sangamon County coroner Jim Allmon told WCIS that the Heinz Funeral Home is being investigated after family members reported that cremains they had received from the company did not, in fact, belong to their loved one. Instead, the deceased was found in a hospital.
Further investigation revealed, according to Allmon, other instances where cremains had been delivered despite the fact that no cremation had ever been performed.
