There soon might be a change in the process of receiving a teaching license in Illinois thanks to new legislation. The bill would slightly change the process of becoming a teacher.

It would allow the State Board of Education to create a
content test for those seeking to teach first through sixth grade.

The test would include content on foundational teaching skills and methods that would be appropriate for students first through sixth grade.

The test will have elements that cover areas such as biliteracy, bilingualism, oral language development and foundational literacy skills.
