With Illinois revenues continuing to exceed expectations, Governor JB Pritzker says the state may be able to use some of that surplus to fund tax cuts.

But Pritzker says that’s just one of several ideas on the table about how best to use the windfall from higher-than-expected sales and income tax receipts.

If tax cuts are pursued, it’s unclear what taxes could be affected and whether the cuts would be temporary or permanent.

The state could also use the additional dollars to bolster its rainy day fund or try to further pay down its pension liability.
