A years-long project to improve Hilltop Road at the eastern edge of Springfield is now complete.
The proposed upgrades were discussed as early as the year 2000, but work did not begin in earnest until 2017. The roadway was split between various jurisdictions, but is now entirely within the city of Springfield.
The $2.8 million project included widening and paving, improved signage, and the creation of a pedestrian trail that connects to all subdivisions and leads to the Lost Bridge Trail.
