The newest member of the Springfield school board has been sworn in.
Jeff Tucka was chosen by the school board from among seven people who applied to fill the vacancy caused by the death last month of longtime school board member Mike Zimmers. Tucka is a chemist with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
He will serve until the scheduled end of Zimmers’s term in April. Tucka plans to run for a full term in that Subdistrict 4 seat in the spring election.
