A report from the Anti-Defamation League released Tuesday said that incidents of antisemitism skyrocketed in the United States and Illinois in 2023 – particularly
following the Oct. 7 terrorist attack by Hamas militants that kick-started its current conflict with Israel.

The ADL’s Audit of Antisemitic Incidents reported that Illinois saw 211 separate antisemitic incidents of assault, harassment or vandalism last year, up 74% from 2022.

Out of that total, 68% took place following the Hamas attack, which killed over 1,100 people in the deadliest attack against Jews since the end of the Holocaust, and began an ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
