The Springfield City Council recently approved millions of dollars of ARPA funds to go toward replacing lead pipes throughout the capital city, but officials said that only solves a fraction of the problem.

Over the next 20 years, Springfield is mandated by state law to replace 11,000 lead service lines, and CWLP said it will cost Springfield $128 million dollars.

Last week, the Springfield City Council approved $1.2 million to replace 150 lead service lines inside of CWLP customer buildings within the next two years.
