A Springfield man was arrested on a rooftop after he tried to flee from Police on March 27.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver SUV in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Clearlake Avenue after observing multiple traffic violations.

The vehicle failed to stop and fled the area at a high rate of
speed.

The vehicle, which was determined to be driven by Clyde Wallace, 43, was located in the 2200 block of E. Spruce.

Wallace was located on the roof of a nearby residence and eventually came down on his own and was taken into
custody.

Upon searching the roof of the residence, officers located a Smith and Wesson .380 caliber pistol with a round in the chamber.

Inside the vehicle, officers located a loaded .380 caliber magazine lying on the driver’s side floorboard.
