The Illinois State Capitol building is currently locked down and is in the midst of being searched and investigated after a threat was received earlier on Tuesday morning.
According to Alexi Giannoulias’s Office of the Secretary of State, “…Out of an abundance of caution, a building lockdown order was issued, and Secretary of State Police and Springfield Police conducted a sweep of the capitol grounds, which revealed no evidence of a credible threat and no imminent danger was identified. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 3 p.m.”
