Illinois unemployment filing slightly rises across last week in comparison to prior week

Initial filings for unemployment benefits in Illinois rose last week compared with the week prior, the U.S. Department of  Labor said Thursday.

U.S. unemployment claims dropped to 218,000 last week, down 9,000 claims from 227,000 the week prior on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Missouri saw the largest percentage increase in weekly claims, with claims jumping by 39.4%.

Meanwhile, the District of Columbia saw the most significant percentage drop in new claims, with claims dropping by 84.2%.
