Daylight Saving Time ended Sunday at 2:00 a.m.

And the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal is reminding residents that smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms should be tested and inspected every six months, and the changing of the clocks is a convenient time to do it.

The fire marshal also tells us that alarms have a 10-year life span and should be replaced after that time.

The National Fire Protection Association reports working smoke alarms reduce deaths from house fires by half.
