For those commuters across Springfield and Sangamon County, there will be more closures to negotiate starting this Wednesday.
And that’s because the northbound and southbound center and turning lanes at the intersection of 11th Street and Monroe Street in the capital city will be closed for water main abandonment work associated with the currently ongoing railroad relocation project.
Lanes will remain closed until road surface repairs are complete.
Hence, all motorists should depart early or plan alternative routes to avoid delays; the city is also reminding everyone to slow down and be aware of construction and repair crews and equipment in and near the roadways.
