The Sangamon County coroner has identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run Saturday morning in Springfield.
61-year-old Allen Klee of Springfield died at HSHS St. John’s Hospital shortly after he was hit, just after 10:30 am Saturday near 8th and North Grand. The vehicle that struck him did not stop, but police believe it was a dark-colored SUV or truck.
Detectives have talked to witnesses and gathered video footage from the area, but are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Springfield Police or Crimestoppers.
