[LISTEN] NAACP leader discusses plans for Race Riot national monument

The National Park Service says the site of Springfield’s 1908 Race Riot is eligible for inclusion in the National Park System. Teresa Haley of the Springfield and Illinois branches of the NAACP appeared live with WMAY’s Jim Leach to discuss why a national monument would be appropriate and essential to educating the current and future generations about that dark chapter in local and national history.
