More than a dozen companies in the business of transporting cannabis products have filed suit in Sangamon County, saying the state is allowing unlicensed companies to transport the drug.

Under Illinois law, only licensed companies may transport cannabis products from cultivation centers to retail dispensaries and other locations; those companies must meet strict security requirements during the transport.

But the plaintiffs say some companies are either not meeting those requirements, or are transporting cannabis without being licensed – and say the state is not doing anything to enforce those rules.
