Buzz Bomb Brewing Company, is one of my favorite places to grab a local craft beer. They always have a wide selection with something I’ll be in the mood for, and they are great community partners. Buzz Bomb was the first local brewery to partner with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes. They are a part of a downtown business group called the Adams Family, and someone from the brewery has always been at every event I have ever been to in Springfield.
Well, they have something new for us to try, and I can’t wait to give it a shot. Its called, “Helles Bound & Down.” It’s a Helles Lager, described as very drinkable at about 5.1 % ABV. A Helles or Hell beer is usually a German Lager, made mainly in South Germany – mainly Munich. It sounds ominous, but “Hell” can be translated in German to bright or pale. If there is one thing we know about the Germans, they know their beer. A Helles is usually a little sweet, with a light pale color and very little bitterness.
This is a great addition to the line up as we slide into the summer months. Check out all Buzz Bomb has to offer by going in and tasting the beer. Sure you could google it, but where’s the fun in that. Walk in the historic building at 406 East Adams, belly up to the bar and spend a couple hours enjoying the selection.
