The COVID transmission picture around Illinois is showing signs of improvement.

Only nine counties, all in Southern Illinois, show elevated rates of community transmission of the virus, down from 26 one week earlier.

Eight are at a medium level of transmission, while only Clay County is listed as “high.”

Sangamon County remains at a low level of transmission, and the county had no new COVID-related deaths in the past week.
