Among the bills moving through the General Assembly during the lame duck legislative session is one that could mean big pay raises for statewide elected officials, agency heads, and Illinois lawmakers.

The House approved the bill Friday night, which would raise salaries for constitutional officers by 11 to 14 percent, while base pay for lawmakers would go up more than 18-percent.

If the Senate approves the measure when it reconvenes Sunday, the higher pay would go into effect as soon as those elected officials are sworn in for new terms in the coming days.
