Gas prices have been falling in recent days, but we’re still going into the busy travel period with the highest Thanksgiving pump prices on record.
Triple A says the average gas price statewide is at four dollars a gallon for regular unleaded, down 16 cents over the past week. Springfield has the lowest prices of any major metro area in the state, at $3.69 a gallon, down 40 cents in the past month.
That’s just slightly higher than the national average, but Triple A says it’s still the highest average gas price since the motor club began tracking that number back in 2000.
