A 54-year-old man is in custody after police found him illegally in possession of more than 20 guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Police responded to the 2000 block of South 1st Street around 12:20am Sunday for a report of a man in a building where a fire alarm had been activated. They found Charles Pyles hiding inside the building with two loaded handguns. Officers also located a recreational vehicle belonging to Pyles nearby, and inside found the additional guns and ammo.
Pyles is being held on multiple charges, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, armed violence, and multiple weapons offenses.
