The rate of new COVID infections in Sangamon County appears to be slowing… but the county has seen a new COVID-related death after going more than two weeks without one.
The latest fatality was a man in his 70s who was fully vaccinated and had gotten a booster. The county’s death toll from the virus now stands at 408… out of more than 69,000 total cases since the start of the pandemic.
The county is now at a “low” transmission level… with 268 new cases in the past seven days, compared to 400 the previous week.
