At least eight people have been injured in an explosion at an apartment building in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood.

Six men and two women were transported to area hospitals after the Tuesday morning blast. Three of the victims were reported in serious to critical condition. There was no immediate word on the cause of the explosion, but utility crews say it does not appear to be the result of a gas leak.

The Chicago Police Bomb Squad and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were also called in to investigate.
